23 Pope John Students Inducted into National Honor Society

On Wednesday, May 9 the local chapter of the National Honor Society at Pope John XXIII High School in Everett held its Induction Ceremony for new members in the school’s auditorium. The evening's guest speaker for the induction ceremony was Professor Allison Blakely of Boston University. Professor Blakely spoke to the inductees and their guests in his capacity as National President of the academic collegiate honor society Phi Beta Kappa.

Professor Blakely is a decorated Viet Nam veteran and has been an Army intelligence officer, professor at Howard University, Fulbright Scholar and himself a member of his high school's National Honor Society chapter. The focus of Mr. Blakely’s address was to encourage students to believe that even though they may be coming from humble circumstances that with their gifts and abilities and the opportunities available to them, they can pursue and accomplish great things.

Everett residents William Cardello, Kathyrn Demirdjian, Joseph DiFilippo, Alessandra Myers, Maily Nguyen, and Leah Russell

Malden residents Stephen Caron, Marsha Jean-Louis, Stania Marsan and John Paul Nsubuga

Peabody residents Sarah Connors and Gina Steinberg

Revere residents Elisa Gucciardi, Gina Nguyen, Tina Nguyen, Amanda Silva and Brian Toste

Saugus residents Kristen Maney, Nicholas Mercuro, Nicholas Raccuia, Stephanie Saldi and Tina Tomaszewski

Wilmington resident Christine Ungaro
