Annual Fund Giving

Tuition alone does not cover - and never has - the entire cost of educating a student at Pope John. Initially, the founding clergy donated their salaries (minus modest living expenses) back to the school to make up the difference. Since then, loyal alumni, parents, friends, and corporations have stepped forward to ensure that this legacy of generosity continues. In this way, the benefits of a Pope John education will continue to produce educated young men of character, promise, and purpose.

Gifts to the Pope John Annual Fund help offset the cost of tuition, which is $8,000 and, at the same time, make so much more possible. We are eager to fuel the growth of this fund, through alumni and others who recognize the value of "paying gratefulness forward" and who commit to making Pope John an annual part of their charitable giving. Donors are listed in the President's Report Annual Report published by the school annually.

We also want to encourage you to make your gift count twice by taking advantage of employer matching gift programs. Many businesses and corporations offer the benefit of an employer matching gift program to support the charitable giving of their employees. Pope John XXIII High School encourages you to check with your employer on the availability of matching gifts. Last year alone Pope John realized over $20,000 through this type of giving!

Leadership Giving

Leadership Giving is the next building block that needs to be secured in the continuing evolution of Pope John XXIII High School's stepping forward to secure the school's legacy into the future.

The Leadership Giving Program has two goals, to expand the number of major donors and to educate our graduates the present and future needs of the School. Pope John XXIII High School needs its alumni and friends to understand and accept that the future prosperity of the school will be in large part the responsibility of our collective concern, and the individual financial commitment of our donors.

Planned Giving

Planned Giving is a planning process that can help assure the future well being of your family and at the same time helps to support the continued growth and future viability of Pope John XXIII High School. Planned gifts can be as simple as making a bequest to Pope John in your will or by naming the school as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy. It can also as be as complex as setting up a charitable trust or by using a tangible asset such as a piece of real estate to make a gift.

The Advancement Office can assist you in answering many of your questions regarding planned giving. But it is advisable to retain the services of an attorney and/or a professional financial advisor in this planning process because of the sometimes complex nature of these gifts and the legal requirements which must be met. This will ensure that the resulting benefit of your planned gift will be maximized for you, your family and Pope John.
